Patiala, December 9

Problems at Ward No. 56 to 60 are no different than other city areas. Residents of these wards, including Model Town, Power Colony, Yadavindra Enclave, Majithia Enclave, Bharat Nagar, Bhakra Colony and areas near Bhupindra Road, are having a harrowing time as the authorities have turned a blind eye to the poor condition of roads.

Residents, especially those living near Yadavindra Enclave and Majithia Enclave, complain that roads in their area have not been maintained for the past many years and the situation worsened when it rains. Commuters say the roads in the wards were full of with potholes, posing danger to their lives. Moreover, the sewerage was not up to the mark. Heaps of garbage can be seen in various parts of the area. Safai karamcharis too can be seen missing.

Paramjeet Singh Virk said heaps of garbage were a major problem in the area and the MC had turned blind eye to the problem.

Pardeep Dewan, another resident said stray cattle often blocked roads in these wards, causing accidents. They can be seen feeding on garbage.

Ward No. 59 Congress candidate Meenakshi Singla said the problem of garbage and non-functional street lights were a common sight in these wards but the SAD-BJP combine did not pay any heed to these issues.
