PATIALA: The Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Prof BS Ghuman, today flagged off a fleet of 10 e-rickshaws on the campus.

Patiala, February 19

The Vice-Chancellor of Punjabi University, Prof BS Ghuman, today flagged off a fleet of 10 e-rickshaws on the campus. The university has also hired women drivers for plying the e-rickshaws.

Last month, the university had come out with a notification inviting applications for the same. Designated parking lots have been identified at various places, including near the girls’ hostels.

Prof Ghuman said, “The objective of the project is to make the campus clean and noise and pollution-free. We have flagged off 10 e-rickshaws under a pilot project. The step will provide comfort and relief to students and outsiders visiting the campus.”

Officials said for the safety of girl students, women drivers had also been hired.

The campus has been divided into three zones for plying the rickshaws between 7 am to 7.30 pm every day. — TNS
