Tribune Model School celebrated English Literary Week which ended on Saturday. Students of Class X indulged in exploring the depths of the art of storytelling with Deeptha Vivekanand. The students were divided into groups of four for the whole duration and they were provided with folktales from different parts of India. The stories were recrafted by the students, ranging from the tale of the creation of the world to the construction of the first house.

Inter-school competition 

An inter-school group song competition was held at Sharda Sarvhitkari School, Sector 41, in Chandigarh. More than 10 teams from various schools participated and enthralled the audience with their melody. Shri Guru Harkrishan School bagged the first prize, Sarvitkari School, Mohali, won the second prize while GMSSS- 22 was adjudged the third.

Lemonade party 

To introduce sweet and sour taste to the students and show the process of making a healthy drink instantly, a lemonade party was organised for the students of SMD Little Champ Smart School. The children were shown how to prepare ‘lemonade’ by stirring sugar in the water and then squeezing lemon into it. To enhance the taste, salt and black pepper were also added into it. Later on, this instant and healthy lime water was relished by all the children and staff members.

Fancy dress competition 

An inter-house fancy dress competition was held at Mount Carmel School. Divya Langer won in the sub-junior group, Maitri Bansal in the junior group, Yogain Singh in senior group 2, Jasanpreet Kaur in senior group 1 and Jinsa E George won in the senior group. Various other items like dance and choir were also presented by students at the event. —TNS

Endangered  Species Day

Patiala: On the occasion of World Endangered Species Day, a painting competition was conducted under the aegis of the Divisional Forest Office, Patiala. Budding artists expressed their concern for the flora and fauna by showing their creativity and imagination through their paintings, impressive posters and slogans. The eco-nature club of the school conducted a special assembly. An enactment on water, pollution, conservation of natural resources, endangered species and global warning was presented by Rajdeep, Parminder, Inderpreet, Abhishek, Garima, Palak, Mamta, Kailash, Amrin, Karman and Raju under the guidance of the club in-charge Harpreet Kaur. The principal of the school, Meena Thapar, congratulated the participants for an effective presentation.

Mother’s Day

Springles Pre-School, Patiala, celebrated Mother’s Day at Harpal Tiwana Auditorium with great sparkle and vivacity. The dress code for the day was red for all mothers. Tiny-tots of pre-nursery performed on songs and rhymes. A special quiz and pop-up challenges were organised and the mothers actively participated in the activities. A button art competition was also organised. Winners received prizes and gifts from school director Samir Pandhi. OC
