Chandigarh, June 24

A bag containing cash and valuables of a retired Subedar with the Indian Army was stolen from a Himachal Pradesh Roadways bus at the ISBT, Sector 43, here, this morning.

Victim Phunchon Anghchok, a native of Leh and Ladakh, told Chandigarh Tribune that his bag contained a laptop, three ATM cards, Rs 12,000 and important documents, including pension and Aadhaar cards.

However, showing its apathetic attitude, the Sector 43 police post filed a missing daily diary report (DDR) and did not lodge an FIR. The DDR did not have a mention of the cash.

“I told the police that there was cash too, but I do not know why they did not mention in the document,” the complainant wondered.

The incident took place when the ex-serviceman returned from Dharampur after leaving his son at an Army school there. When he boarded the Chandigarh-Manali bus, he asked the conductor for ticket at 9:45 pm. He was told that tickets will be given at the ticket counter outside. He asked a fellow passenger to take care of his bag till he returns. However, when he returned, his bag was missing.

“I was told at the counter that tickets will be given in the bus itself. When I returned to my seat, my bag was not there. When I asked my co-passenger about the bag, he said somebody came and took the bag. Then I rang up 100 number,” he said.
