Finally, Kharar MC begins process to take possession of Rs 50-cr land

Finally, the Kharar Municipal Council has started taking steps  to take possession of about 132-kanal land, the mutation of which was sanctioned in the name of the council about 15 months ago. The issue was raised by Chandigarh Tribune in these columns recently.

Notably, the case about the land was decided on 29 April, 2016, in the court of the SDM Kharar. On that day, the other party, Kehar Singh and others, recorded their statement in the court that this Jumla Mustrka Malkan land, which has been mentioned in the Intkal No. 36707, was in their possession at that time. Now, they are voluntarily ready to give possession of the land to the council.

The SDM    accepted the statement of both parties and sanctioned the mutation of the land in favour of the Municipal Council, Kharar.

As per information, at present, the  market value of the land is  not less than Rs 50 crore.

According to information, the Executive Officer of the Kharar MC has written a letter to the Tehsildar, Kharar. In the letter, he has stated that the land shares its boundaries with four villages. 

He has requested that its demarcation should be done and the name of the Municipal Council, Kharar, should be entered in the column of ‘Girdawri Khana Kashat’.

According to information, a similar letter has been written by him to officers of the council in which he has directed them to take possession of the land immediately. He has written that the matter was already in the knowledge of the Chief Minister and Local Self-Government Department, Punjab. Sandeep Tiwari, the Executive Officer of the MC, said the possession of the land would be taken soon.
