First women gym opens in Sec 38

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation opened the first women’s gym at Mahila Bhawan in Sector 38-C here today.

The Chandigarh Municipal Corporation opened the first women’s gym at Mahila Bhawan in Sector 38-C here today.

An official said the gym would be operated by a woman gym trainer and Rs 500 would be for three month’s membership fee of the gym.

Mayor Asha Kumari Jaswal inaugurated the gym. She said women of the area expressed happiness over the opening of the gym and said as compared to private gyms, which charge a hefty membership fee, rates had been kept nominal here.

Arun Sood, former Mayor and area councillor, said the facility of bathrooms and lockers apart from other regular facilities were also provided at the gym.

He said the MC was providing similar health facilities at all community centres and open air gyms in all major parks throughout the city. He said this gym had been built at a cost of Rs 12.50 lakh with latest gym equipment.
