Mohali: The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) celebrated its foundation day at the NIPER Convention Centre here on Thursday.



Mohali: The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) celebrated its foundation day at the NIPER Convention Centre here on Thursday. The programme started with a welcome address by Prof Raghuram Rao Akkinepally, Director of the institute, followed by the presentation of the annual report of the institute. He said last year, 211 masters students, 44 MBA and 26 PhD students were awarded degrees. Prof Jagat Ram, Director, PGIMER, Chandigarh, was the chief guest and delivered a lecture on ‘Achieving excellence combining focus, talent and medicine’The gold medal for pharmaceutical sciences was given to Zulfiqar Abbas and for management to Neharika Mehta.

PM address to be telecast

Chandigarh: All schools have made arrangements for the telecast of PM's address to students on tackling exam stress on Friday. "All schools have TV sets for telecasting PM's address at 11. 45 am," said District Education Officer Anujit Kaur. At the PU, the arrangements have been made at law auditorium. According to the MHRD, the purpose of the talk is to tackle the exam season positively by sharing experiences, anecdotes and thoughts on studying for exams and dealing with stress.

Motivational talk

Patiala: The Gurmat Chetna Sabha of Mata Sahib Kaur Khalsa Girls College of Education, Dhamo Majra, organised a motivational talk to inspire the younger generation to lead a simple and religious life. This motivational talk was delivered by S Satnam Singh from Healing Souls Society. College Principal Harmeet Kaur Anand said social and moral values are degenerating from our society. TNS

New school opened

Patiala: Rayat-Bahra Group, Patiala campus, has opened a school on the Patiala-Sangrur road. Surjit Singh Rakhra, former Punjab Cabinet Minister, speaking on the occasion, lauded the initiative of the Rayat Bahra Group and said the school would fulfil the long-standing need of the people of the area by providing quality education.The school has started the admission process for Class I to VI. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. Piush Verma, director of the Patiala campus, said  the management had ambitious plans for further development of the school and more amenities would be added in the times to come. TNS

60 units of blood donated

Patiala: The NSS Department and red ribbon club of Public College organised a blood donation camp in Samana on Thursday. A team of doctors from the Blood and Transfusion Department of Rajindra Hospital, Patiala, collected around 60 units of blood from volunteers. The college management honoured Dr Malkit Singh Maan, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Punjab, who was the chief guest on the occasion. He lauded the efforts of the college in motivating the students for the noble cause of blood donation. TNS
