Chandigarh, June 26

Four teams from Chandigarh will compete in Force Gurkha RFC India 2017 challenge, which starts in Goa from July 22.

Chandigarh-based team IronScorpion will be represented by William Dwaine Jungen, who is the first off-roader from the USA to compete in the RFC India, and co-driver Jaskirat Singh Nagra.

“I have been following the previous editions of RFC India and being the first US driver to compete in RFC India is an honor,” said Dwaine.

Defending champions Gurmeet Virdi and co-driver Kirpal Singh Tung will be a part of the Gerrari Offroaders Chandigarh.

Kabir Waraich along with co-driver Gagan Sachdeva and Sanbir Singh Dhaliwal and co-driver Gurpratap Singh Sandhu will also represent the Gerrari Offroaders in the competition.

A total of 40 teams from across the country will compete in the event.

The teams will compete in 26 special stages that will test the contestants’ driving and vehicle recovery skills and team spirit along with their physical and mental endurance.

The event will be based on point system, wherein the team with maximum points at the end of the competition will claim the title.

The total benefits that the top Indian driver of the competition will get amount to USD 8,000. The team will get a free entry into the RFC Mother Event to be held in Malaysia at the end of the year.

All eyes at this year’s event will be on the defending champion Gurmeet Virdi, who will be competing in the championship for the fourth consecutive time. “It has been a great learning curve so far and this year will be no different. Rather than competing with others, I want to focus on my performance and get better scores than previous years,” said Virdi. — TNS
