Four of family booked for preventing public servant from performing duty

CHANDIGARH: Four persons of a family, including three women, were arrested by the Chandigarh Police for using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty.

Four persons of a family, including three women, were arrested by the Chandigarh Police for using criminal force to deter a public servant from discharge of his duty.

According to the police, there was a dispute between the accused and their relative following which both parties were called to the police station for investigation.

The police said the accused, identified as Mukesh, and the three women started quarreling with their relative. A woman constable tried to pacify them, however, the accused manhandled her.

A case against the accused has been registered under Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 380 (theft in dwelling house, etc), 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), 353 (criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Mani Majra police station.
