Panchkula, June 18

Gangster Sampat Nehra, a key member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who has confessed to his involvement in 25 cases of murder, attempt to murder, and extortion, was fond of “advanced” weapons.

During his seven-day police remand, the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) has recovered around five weapons, including a Smith and Wesson pistol, one revolver and two country-made pistols. The pistol and revolver were most-advanced weapons, said an STF official.

Among the 25 cases, Nehra even confessed his gang’s involvement in extortion call to the owner of a Chandigarh-based pharmacy, Kumar Brothers. The STF recovered these weapons from gangster's friend's house in Jodhpur in Rajasthan. He was planning to kill actor Salman Khan with these firearms, said an official privy to the investigation.

Sampat Nehra was remanded in judicial custody by a local court here on Monday in connection with two cases in Panchkula.

Meanwhile, the STF further sought his production warrant in connection with a murder case in Bhiwani, Haryana, from the Panchkula court. Nehra will be produced in a Bhiwani court on Tuesday by the STF who will seek his police remand for his alleged involvement in the murder of a gym trainer.
