CHANDIGARH:Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Sector 18, overcame Chandigarh Girls Hockey Academy 3-2 in an exhibition match organised to mark Olympic Day celebrations here today.

Chandigarh, June 23

Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Sector 18, overcame Chandigarh Girls Hockey Academy 3-2 in an exhibition match organised to mark Olympic Day celebrations here today. 

Preeti put Hockey Academy ahead in the 5th minute, but four minutes later, Government School girls levelled through Barkha. 

Hockey academy regained the lead when Monica sounded the wooden plank in the 19th minute. The side, however, could not hold the lead for long as Monu made it 2-2 for Government School in 26th minute. A minute later, Kiran scored through penalty corner to help Government School finish on top.

In another match, Chandigarh Hockey Academy settled for a 2-2 draw against Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 37. 

Meanwhile, Hockey Chandigarh awarded Rs 5,000 to each of its players and coaches who represented the city in the 7th Hockey India Sub Junior National Championship for Men at Bangalore last month. Chandigarh had won gold medal in the championship.
