HAVE YOUR SAY

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?

Agreement must be thoroughly looked into

This refers to the news report “House proposes, Commissioner disposes” (Chandigarh Tribune, April 17), MC Joint Commissioner TS Saini’s reported remarks stating that the MoU signed with the company was like a Bible for them. “We cannot go beyond what is written in it” sounds totally unbelievable. But what could be so ‘pious’ here that might have led him to term this routine parking fee agreement equivalent to the Holy Bible? One just shudders to imagine the rationale behind holding such a “high” opinion about it which he recently entered into with the licensee company on behalf of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation. For sure, various irregularities observed by the members of the MC House could not be a figment of their imagination. Moreover, if there is smoke, there must be some fire too. In all fairness, this “agreement” must be thoroughly looked into by some independent central agency to unfold the mystery behind it, if any? Kumar Gupt, Panchkula

Poor management, non-functional lights

Two vehicles collided at the Sector 24/25 light point here at 4.50 pm on Tuesday. An Innova coming from Sector 24 collided with a Hyundai i10 car, which further rammed into a tree in front of the UIET, Panjab University gate. Streetlights were non-functional and the traffic was out of control as there was no police personnel to control the traffic. Moreover, one lane of the road was closed due to construction work. All this happened due to poor management of the authorities concerned as well as carelessness of drivers. Rishav Sharma, Chandigarh
