Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Food Day, Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40-D, Chandigarh, organised a healthy tiffin competition for pre-nursery to Class VIII and salad-making competition for classes IX to XII.

Chandigarh: On the occasion of World Food Day, Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40-D, Chandigarh, organised a healthy tiffin competition for pre-nursery to Class VIII and salad-making competition for classes IX to XII. All the students took an active part in the competition and gave presentations on healthy nutritive food. Primary in-charge Anjali Kapoor motivated the students in the morning assembly regarding the importance of World Food Day. She said one should eat healthy food, balanced diet and not waste food. TNS

Art and craft exhibition 

Chandigarh: Ankur School, Sector 14, organised an art and craft exhibition on its premises in which students from Classes I to VII participated. The highlight of the exhibition was students using waste material from houses and preparing beautiful exhibits. The products on display included painting on window glass, transparent sheet, card painting and pot painting. Some exhibits had also been put on sale. School principal Parminder Duggal said, "Children have creativity in them. We can further hone their talent by encouraging them. More such activities will be planned and sale proceeds will be utilised for the welfare of childlren." TNS

Diwali celebrated 

Chandigarh: SMD Little Champ Smart School, Sector 2, Panchkula, celebrated Diwali with zeal and fervour. The students took out a rally spreading the message of celebrating 

a safe and pollution-free Diwali. Principal Deepika Luthra, in her address, advised that the celebration of festival of lights should be in harmony with nature with stress on beautification and shunning hazardous fire-crackers and reducing pollution. Director Naresh Gupta advised the students to imbibe the measure of good over evil and light over darkness.  TNS

Founder’s Day celebrated 

Chandigarh: Sacred Souls' School, Gharuan, celebrated the 14th Founder’s Day at Tagore Theatre, here. The annual day showcased talent, skill and dexterity. Maj Gen IP Singh, Director of Mai Bhago Armed Forces Preparatory Institute, Mohali, was the chief guest and Jaspreet Kaur the guest of honour. The programme commenced with the hymn, 'Almighty Grace', presented by the school choir. After this, the principal briefed the audience about the vision of the school, value-based education and plethora of activities conducted in the school. The main highlight of the day was the famous English play 'The Mousetrap: A Murder Mystery' of Agatha Christie performed by the budding artists. The rendition of 'Rock and Roll' genre song 'The Gambler' and Punjabi folk song 'Poorna' performed by the Soulian Fusioners enthralled the audience. TNS

Annual day celebrations 

Chandigarh: A three-day-long annual day festivity of Guru Nanak Public School, Sector 36, Chandigarh, ended on Monday. Retired Ambassador Manbir Singh was the chief guest on the occasion. Principal Gurnam Kaur Garewal said, "The festival witnessed a cultural extravaganza which included over 60 cultural items. The objective was to provide a platform for all hidden talent, that too in the presence of their parents." Presentations included an English play on Neerja Bhanot, skits, Western dances and bhangra. The event concluded with the prize distribution ceremony. TNS
