It is good that there will be no food/eating stalls at Rose Garden during the forthcoming Rose Festival. It is a good decision by the High Court. As the past experience shows, the entire garden is littered with leftovers of eatable items, ice-cream cups, wrappers, etc. Still, those found littering the garden should be caught there and then and shown the door. The Administration should ensure that there are arrangements for toilet and drinking water at every 50m during the fest.

Inflated water bills
I have been getting inflated water bills for the past three years. I complained to the Executive Engineer, MCPH, Division II, Sector 9, Chandigarh office, several times, but to no avail. I have deposited a fee of Rs 80 for meter inspection for account number 0202/0804/119200W. Will the department take any action in this regard?

Don’t take instructions lightly
Classic amusement rides like roller-coasters and Ferris wheels are great attractions but with hidden dangers. We never know when a cartwheel, not generally considered a thing of peril, can lead to serious injury or death, if safety measures are not taken or something goes wrong. Even a minor mishap can ruin a day of theme park fun. We love rides but do not prepare ourselves accordingly. Since the rides are faster, higher and more thrilling than ever, it is important that we do not take instructions lightly. There should be a single agency responsible for collecting data or enforcing standards. Recent death incident calls for brainstorming and imposing stricter regulation of amusement parks.

Is a civic issue bothering you? Are you agitated over the lack of concern? Is there something heartening that you feel needs to be highlighted? Or a picture which in your opinion ought to be seen by many, and not just you?
