Hit by car, man dies in Dera Bassi mishap

DERA BASSI: A motorist was killed while his brother sustained injury when their motorcycle allegedly collided with a car coming from the opposite direction near Haripur Hinduan village, Dera Bassi, here today.

A motorist was killed while his brother sustained injury when their motorcycle allegedly collided with a car coming from the opposite direction near Haripur Hinduan village, Dera Bassi, here today.

The deceased has been identified as Ram Kumar. Both were the residents of Kuranwala village near Dera Bassi. According to the police sources, the incident occured this morning when the duo was on their way towards Haripur Hinduan village from Kuranwala. The sources added that a rashly driven car coming from the opposite direction reportedly hit the victim’s motorcycle following which Ram Kumar died on the spot and his brother sustained injuries. The accused fled away from the spot. Meanwhile, the police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of the IPC at the Dera Bassi police station and investigation was under way. The body of the deceased has been handed over to the family members after the postmortem.—OC
