Zirakpur, February 18
A 27-year-old youth was killed when the Activa scooter he was driving was hit by an unidentified vehicle near the Mittaso hotel on the Zirakpur-Chandigarh road here today. The deceased has been identified as Robin Piplani, a resident of Badal Colony, Zirakpur.
Narinder Singh, ASI, Zirakpur police station, said the incident occurred around 3 pm when the victim was on his way to Chandigarh from Zirakpur. His scooter was hit from the rear side following which he fell on the road and received a head injury. The driver of the unidentified vehicle managed to flee from the spot.
A case has been registered under Sections 279 and 304 A of the IPC at the Zirakpur police station.
