HP youth found dead in PG room

Chandigarh, February 15

The body of a 23-year-old youth was found under mysterious circumstances in his room at a PG accommodation in Sector 15 today. The victim, a native of Himachal Pradesh, was taking coaching in the city.

According to the police, the victim has been identified as Sardool Verma, a native of Mandi district. The victim was taking coaching from an institute in Sector 15.

Sources said the boys staying in the adjacent room got suspicious after the victim did not open the door despite repeated knocks. The landlord and the police were informed.

A police team rushed to the spot and broke open the door. The police found the victim’s body lying in the room. The room was searched. However, the police did not find anything that could raise a suspicion.

Inspector Lakhbir Singh, SHO of the Sector 11 police station, said the cause of the death would be known after a postmortem. “Prima facie it appears that the victim died a few hours before his body was recovered from the room,” the SHO said.

The victim’s kin were informed about the incident. The body has been kept in a mortuary. Inquest proceedings have been initiated by the police at the Sector 11 police station.
