In a first, PU to start governance courses from this session

CHANDIGARH:Keeping its promise to Kiran Bedi, Panjab University is set to start the first of its kind courses on governing from the upcoming session.

Keeping its promise to Kiran Bedi, Panjab University is set to start the first of its kind courses on governing from the upcoming session. The courses and their fee structure were approved in a meeting of the academic council today. The three courses are masters in governance and leadership, three-month certificate course in governance and leadership and four-week crash course in governance and leadership.

In a recent visit to the university, Kiran Bedi had suggested that such course should be introduced in the PU. The varsity had promised to do so in the previous session i.e. 2016-17 but it got delayed. The courses will finally start from this session after Pam Rajput, chairperson of the committee on governance and leadership, presented the concept note and other details today which were accepted by the council.

The council has also approved the introduction of choice-based credit system in colleges from this session. The colleges had some apprehensions regarding lack of time and infrastructure but agreed to try, as informed by Vice Chancellor Arun K Grover.
