“The month-long TFT Drama Festival, organised by the Theatre for Theatre group, at Navrang Theatre had been so far presenting plays replete with diverse themes and having socio-cultural relevance,” observed Prof Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor, Haryana, here today. He commended the staging of Kalidasa’s play “Malavikagnimitram” by the Abhinav Rang Manch, Indore, today.

The play was directed by Sharad Sharma, who essayed the lead role of king Agnimitra. The play was dominated by humour and romance. In the play, king Agnimitra falls in love with a woman servant, Malvika, who in turn is imprisoned by queen Dharni as she finds out the king’s infatuation for her. The king, deeply in love, hatches a plan in association with his jester and frees her. Dharni too recovers Malvika‘s royal connection and crowns her as the queen. The concept, production design and music by Sanjay Upadhyay was of merit.
