Man, son booked for attacking elderly couple

ZIRAKPUR: The police today booked a father-son duo for physically assaulting and thrashing an elderly couple at Panchsheel Enclave here.

The police today booked a father-son duo for physically assaulting and thrashing an elderly couple at Panchsheel Enclave here.

The victim, Ramesh Chander Sehgal (69), who resides in the same locality, had approached the police, following which an FIR was registered against the accused.

Investigation Officer Joginder Singh said the victim, Ramesh Chander, in his complaint had alleged that he, along with his wife, was at home on Saturday when the father and his son, who are their neighbours, allegedly barged into their house and physically assaulted him and his wife.

The complainant alleged that first he was hit by a stick and later he was attacked with some sharp weapon, following which he sustained injuries. The father-son duo fled from the spot when the victim raised an alarm, said the IO. After getting information, the police reached the spot and took the elderly couple to a hospital.

Going with the statement of the victims, the police have registered a case against Prashant Raut and his son Rahul Raut. No arrest has been made yet, the police said. — OC
