Panchkula, December 8
A day after Panchkula MC Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal sought comments from the Mayor and councillors over excluding Kalka and Pinjore from the jurisdiction of the Panchkula MC, 13 councillors, including Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia, held a meeting and passed a resolution against dissolving the Municipal Corporation.
The resolution, which was passed by a majority of the Congress councillors, was submitted to the MC Commissioner for further action.
The MC Commissioner will also take views of the Ambala MP and Panchkula and Kalka MLAs on this issue as they are also ex-officio members of the MC House.
The resolution reads: “It is recommended through this resolution that the present Municipal Corporation should continue as it is and the act of abolition or even separation of Kalka and Pinjore is completely unwarranted at this stage. However, this House is open for minor alteration of boundaries subject to Section 3 (3) of the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act, 1994, and Section 4 of the Haryana Municipal Act, 1973”.
In the resolution, it was also demanded to upgrade the services. The resolution reads: “It is resolved that there is need to upgrade and fill vacant posts to improve the efficiency of work in the corporation”.
Ambala Divisional Commissioner Vivek Joshi had already held two rounds of meeting with MC Commissioner and Panchkula DC Gauri Parashar Joshi and other officials over to take call on the dissolution of the Panchkula MC.
