Chandigarh, February 14
The Municipal Corporation (MC) after getting poor response, for the auction of 51 marked spaces at new car bazaar in Hallow Majra, has decided to extend the bidder's participation date till February 16. Earlier, the MC had invited the tenders to allocate these open sites on February 9. The new date for auction is yet to be finalised.
As per Car Dealers Association President Gulshan Kumar, only around 18 dealers bought forms for the 51 sites and many of them have not submitted forms. Councillor and Vice President of Chandigarh Car Dealers Association, Rajesh Gupta, said there are no basic amenities and the reserve price is too high.
That is the reason, people are not much interested in the auction. At present, the MC has been issuing slips to the traders. The decision to shift the car bazaar was taken on the directions of Punjab and Haryana High Court on a petition filed by owners of showrooms at Sector 7.—TNS
