The arrival of MLAs at Government Multi-Specialty Hospital (GMSH), Sector 16, following a ruckus in the Punjab Assembly led to inconvenience to patients.

Injured AAP MLAs Sarabjit Kaur Manuke and Manjit Singh were accompanied by party leaders HS Phoolka, Kanwar Sandhu and Aman Arora, along with Akali MLAs Sukhbir Badal and Bikram Majithia to the hospital. As they reached the hospital gate, the supporters started raising slogans, disturbing ailing patients. Just outside the Emergency, they stopped after they were asked not to shout.

As they entered the hospital, patients and visitors got pushed. The rush of mediapersons and police personnel took patients by surprise. Lensmen were seen chasing stretchers inside the hospital much to the discomfort of patients. No effort was made to stop the crowd and leaders of political parties from entering the Emergency.

“I got scared seeing the crowd enter the hospital and raise slogans. Policemen asked us to get aside as leaders were coming. I had brought my mother as she has a breathing problem. She was taken aback by the ruckus; I calmed her,” said Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Sector 21. A relative of a patient admitted to the hospital said, “I was carrying juice for the patient; it fell on the ground in the melee. Leaders should understand that it is a hospital and politics should be kept out of it. Clear instructions should be given to the guards not to allow anybody inside the Emergency other than patients and their caretakers.”

A rush of curious people was seen outside the Emergency. Everyone was wondering what was going on.
