The Khela Natya Sansthan presented a dramatised version of Munshi Prem Chand’s classic, ‘Koi dukh na ho toh bakri kharid lo’ at the TFT drama festival under way at Navrang Theatre here today.

Designed and directed by Namrata Sharma and set in the century-old middle-class family environment, the play portrayed the symbolic plight of the common man engaged in solving issues as mundane as arranging pure milk for his child. The more he tries to solve the problem the more it gets murkier.

The protagonist (Jashandeep Singh) finally settles for buying a goat but invariably invites a plethora of problems — all illustrated through various sequences replete with display of rib-tickling comical events.

The play depicting the dilemma of the common man also made stinging comments on class struggle, corruption and prejudices prevalent in the society. Lead actor Jashandeep Singh was supported by Aparna Sharma, Daman Chhokar, Aryan Jape Appurva Suman and others in presenting the play.

The chief guest on the occasion, Someshwar Dutt, Director, Haryana Sanskrit Akademi, and Justice NK Aggarwal blessed the artistes. — TNS
