National gymnastics kicks off at Mohali today

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Gymnastics Association will organise the 55th Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship and 24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship from February 16 to 18 at the Sector 78 Sports Complex in Mohali.

The Chandigarh Gymnastics Association will organise the 55th Senior Artistic Gymnastics National Championship and 24th Rhythmic Gymnastics National Championship from February 16 to 18 at the Sector 78 Sports Complex in Mohali.

International gymnast Deepa Karmakar, who secured fourth position in the vault table event at the Rio Olympics in 2016, and 2017 Asian Games silver medallist Ashish Kumar will announce the tournament open on Friday, the sports body said here today. The three-day competition sets a stage for players from across the nation to prove their mettle. In addition to that, the points accrued would also help them reserve a birth in the Indian Team participating in the international event. According to the organisers, a total of 24 states and Railway Board team have confirmed their participation.—TNS
