Nigerian, two others arrested with heroin

MOHALI: A team of the Special Task Force, Mohali, arrested three drug peddlers, including a Nigerian, along with 150-gram heroin here today.

A team of the Special Task Force, Mohali, arrested three drug peddlers, including a Nigerian, along with 150-gram heroin here today.

The accused have been identified as James William, a resident of Nigeria, and presently residing at Tilak Nagar in Delhi, Paramvir Singh, alias Pamm, from Manakpur Sharif, and Gurtej Singh, alias Teji, from Wajidpur village, Mohali district.

Giving information, Harpreet Singh, AIG, STF, Ropar Range, said the accused were travelling in an XUV when their vehicle was intercepted at a specially laid naka here following a tip-off.

“The car was coming from the Banur side. The car was driven by Pamm. During the search of the vehicle, our team recovered 150-gram heroin from the XUV,” said AIG Harpreet Singh.

Rajinder Singh Sohal, Superintendent of Police, STF, said the drug peddlers used to supply the drug in the tricity and Ropar area.

“The accused, Paramvir Singh, is an agriculturist. He is already facing cases of similar nature, fight and rape at police stations of Kurali and Mullanpur Garibdass and also has been convicted. The Punjab and Haryana High Court has granted him bail. Teji was also working as agriculturist,” said SP Sohal.

“Now we are working to nab their (drug peddlers) accomplices to break the drug chain,” said SP Sohal.
