It seems that the UT Department of Engineering was waiting for some incident to happen before setting things right in the UT Secretariat building. A fire incident occurred last week on the third floor of the building that exposed the preparedness of the department to deal with such incidents. The officers of the Engineering Department not only changed all the outdated fire extinguishers within a day but all loose wires were also set right immediately after the matter came to the notice of the Home-cum-Finance Secretary. The Secretariat building is one of the most important buildings of the UT Administration which houses the offices of all senior officers.

Boss’ diktat

Before starting the core group meeting of the Chandigarh BJP, the party’s national president, Amit Shah, told leaders present at the UT Guest House to switch off their mobiles. In the meeting, Shah also told the leaders that discussion in the meeting should not go out to the media. However, the information got ‘leaked’ despite the directions of the party boss.

‘Kanhaiya’ grabs attention

During the city visit of BJP national president Amit Shah, the other day, former MP Satya Pal Jain found women leaders on both sides of his seat allotted to him on the dais. To highlight the issue, Jain, who is a senior lawyer and veteran BJP leader, said, “I am feeling like kanhaiya sitting between gopis. I believe newsmen have got their news as they like spicy material.” No sooner Jain, who had also worked as a journalist in his native place Kharar before joining the mainstream politics, made this comment, all the photojournalists, covering the event, started clicking his pictures.
