The Kharar City police on Friday arrested a Chandigarh resident, GurpreetSingh Chada, on charges of cheating and forgery.On the complaint of Mohan Singh, a Mundi Kharar resident, the police booked the accused under Sections 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC.
In the complaint, which was marked to the SSP, Mohali, and investigated by the economic offences wing of the police, it was stated that the accused purchased some agricultural land and allegedly forged signatures of several persons, including the complainant, to regularise the plot in order to avail benefits of an unauthorised colony scheme, which was launched in2013.The accused allegedly used those forged documents to register saleagreements and regularise the land.
