Chandigarh: In the Lawyers Premier League, Patiala Lawyers defeated Kaithal by 81 runs at the Tau Devi Lala Stadium in Panchkula today.



Chandigarh:  In the Lawyers Premier League, Patiala Lawyers defeated Kaithal by 81 runs at the Tau Devi Lala Stadium in Panchkula today. Batting first, Patiala scored 217/4 with the help of a 94-run contribution by Kanwardeep. He was ably supported by Ripdaman Singh Setia (57) and SP Singh Sidhu (27). In reply, Kaithal were bundled out for 136 runs, with Sukhdeep Singh (27) and Jitender Kumar (16) scoring the major share. Harkirat of Patiala claimed two wickets, while Raman, Pavittar, Amarinder, Rajan and SP Singh claimed a wicket each. On Monday, Chandigarh will face Patiala.   

St Xavier’s cagers win twin titles

Chandigarh:  The girls’ team of St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Sector 44, defeated Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 20, 46-20 to win the St. Xavier’s inter-school basketball championship. Simran scored 14 points while Ridhima added 10 points. For the losing side, Rajni scored 14 points. In the boys’ category, St. Xavier’s School beat St. Xavier’s Mohali  39-18 with Harmanjit (16 points) and Jaskaran (8 points) ensuring the win. For the losing side, Harsh Veer scored seven points while Sukhman added five. Simar Kaur and Harmanjit Singh were awarded with Most Valuable Player titles, while the Most Promising Player award was given to Kiranjeet and Jatin.

Sandeep wins bronze 

Chandigarh: Constable Sandeep Kundu of Chandigarh Police won the bronze medal in the below 90kg category during the Assam Rifles 26th Senior National WUSHU Championship at Shilong today.

SGGS School win gold 

Chandigarh: Sri Guru Gobind School Collegiate Public School (SGGS) , Sector 26, won the gold medal by defeating DAV Senior Secondary School, Una, 66-41 on the concluding day of the CBSE Basketball U-19 Cluster Championship at Woods Park School, Hamirpur. A total of 22 teams participated in the event. Harsh of SGGS Collegiate School was declared as Best Player of the tournament.  In the semifinals, SGGS team defeated Guru Nanak School, Nahan, 56-20. —TNS
