The North Zone Cultural Centre, Patiala, (Ministry of Culture, Government of India) in collaboration with Natak Wala, a group of theatre enthusiasts, is organising the annual 17th Summer Theatre Festival at the NZCC’s Kalidasa Auditorium, Virsa Vihar Kendra, Sheranwala Gate, Patiala, from June 23 to 25.
The festival is being organised in the memory of the late Dr Prem Parkash Dhaliwal, great Scholar of Punjabi and Sanskrit. On the second day of the festival, two plays ‘Kalakh to Hnere’ and ‘Clerk ki Mout’, in tribute to famous Punjabi play writer the late Ajmer Singh Aulakh, were staged. ‘Kalakh to Hnere’ is written by Ajmer Singh Aulakh and directed by Rajesh Sharma and ‘Clerk ki Mout’ is written by Anton Chekov’s, which is a dramatical version of his classical story and directed by Kailash. The second day of the festival was inaugurated by Sanjeev Kumar, DEO (Higher Secondary), Patiala; Sudesh Verma and Punjabi lyricist Gill Surjit.
Jagjeet Sareen, Prof Subhash Sharma, Prof Manvata Ghuman, Principal Varinder Ghuman, Ravi Bhushan, and other theatre personalities were present.
