Mohali, June 15

As many as 27 of the 30 flights were cancelled on Friday owing to poor visibility caused by dust and haze at the international airport here. While all passengers were unhappy, Dubai fliers fumed as they were taken to Delhi via road from where they were made to board their flight. The heli-taxi to Shimla was also cancelled on Friday.

The Chandigarh-Bangkok flight left at 3 pm, but made a stopover at Delhi. The Kullu-Chandigarh-Kullu flight was delayed by half an hour while the SpiceJet Delhi-Chandigarh-Delhi flight was on time. Passenger rush was seen all day as they argued with airport and security officials. As some flights were still operative, there was huge confusion among passengers whether their flight had been cancelled or not. For the second day in a row, flight operations have been largely affected due to the bizarre weather conditions. Passengers are facing huge inconvenience due to it as they have to resort to other modes of transportation, which take more time. — TNS
