Mohali, October 16

In what seems to be a case of misuse of power and position, a peon at the Municipal Corporation here was seen washing his officer’s private car during the office hours today.

A black Honda City was seen being washed by a peon at the MC Bhawan’s parking lot at around 2.45 pm. It reportedly belonged to MC Superintending Engineer BD Singla.

The car was being washed using a hosepipe. Interestingly, the MC usually issues order against washing vehicles using pipes. Violators have been challaned in the past.

When contacted, Singla admitted that the car belonged to him. However, he never asked his peon to wash it, he claimed. “I came from Bathinda today. I only asked him to bring a file from the car. He might have started washing it on his own. I am not aware of it,” said Singla, adding that he would pay the fine as per law in this regard.

MC Commissioner Sandeep Hans said he was not aware of the incident. “Surely, such thing is not allowed. I will look into the matter,” he said.
