Chandigarh, December 6

City biker Prithvi Singh Dhillon won the sixth round of the MRF Mogrip International Super Cross 2017 in Pune today.

He won the SX2 foreign-private category to make it his fourth podium finish after MRF super cross championship Round-5 at Indore earlier this year.

“It’s a great feeling. I was expecting to perform well in the last round. It was a dirt track and I love to ride in such conditions,” said Prithvi.  Earlier, in his first Moto SX2 category race, he had finished second. “Just before the start of the second leg, I saw my bike’s rear wheel flat. My fellow rider Javed Sheikh from Goa, who had just finished his ride, gave me his wheel to compete. After that I came first in second Moto,” recalled Prithvi.

His father Jatinderpal Singh Dhillon, who is also his mentor and coach, said that after the aggregate of both events Prithvi was declared first.

“He finished overall third in the championship and topped the Moto-I and II aggregate. We had worked hard for the podium finish,” said Jatinderpal.

He will now participate in the MRF national championship. The first round of which will be held in Kochi from January 2018.

Prithvi, who aims to top the leaderboard in SX2 category, rides Honda CRF 250, Honda CR125 and Yamaha YZ 250F.

In 2015, Prithvi had emerged winner in the up to 165cc and local class categories in the Autocross and Motocross Championship held in Mohali. He was also adjudged the fastest rider.

The 18-year-old also finished third in the Kerala and Goa Supercross events last year.He had also claimed third position in Autocross and Motocross Championship organised by Meerut Motorsports Club in 2014.
