Prompt action helped arrest Vikas, friend

CHANDIGARH:It was Head Constable Satish Kumar, in-charge of the PCR vehicle, and a Home Guards volunteer, who acted promptly on the distress call made by 29-year-old Varnika Kundu, and nabbed the two accused riding a SUV.

It was Head Constable Satish Kumar, in-charge of the PCR vehicle, and a Home Guards volunteer, who acted promptly on the distress call made by 29-year-old Varnika Kundu, and nabbed the two accused riding a SUV. 

Vikas Barala (23), son of Haryana BJP chief Subhash Barala, and his friend Ashish Kumar (27) were nabbed by the PCR staff at the Housing Board light point on the night intervening August 4 and 5. Head Constable Satish and Home Guards volunteer Baisakhi Ram were the first ones to reach the spot and nab the accused. 

The victim had informed the police control room after which the PCR vehicles on the route were alerted.

Satish and Baisakhi Ram, who were patrolling in Mani Majra, were also alerted by the control room following which they reached the Housing Board light point. 

Satish, on seeing the SUV, immediately ran towards it and took out the keys. Satish said the accused had tried to escape by reversing the SUV but they couldn’t since there was another car behind it. 

After nabbing the accused, Satish informed the police control room and other police party also reached the spot. The police said swift reaction helped nabbing the accused. 


Cop, Home Guards volunteer first to reach spot
