Enactus team of the Chemical Engineering Department, under the aegis of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, organised an event at the Senior Citizens’ Home in Sector 15 here today.

Col (Retd) Guljit Singh Chadha, Registrar and Chairman of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Committee of the PU, graced the occasion and appreciated the efforts of the team in bringing joy to the residents of the old-age home. He said at least once a month, students and faculty of the PU should organise such interactive sessions with the inmates to bring moments of happiness to them.

Prof Uma Batra, Deputy Director, PEC, and Prof Archana Bhatnagar, Dr Monica Munjial, Dr Namita Gupta, Dr Anu H Gupa and Dr Sonia Sharma, faculty members from the PU, were present during the event.   

The event started with lighting of diyas by the inmates of the old-age home and faculty members. The members of team conducted various performances. 

Inayat Arora, Adeshpreet Kaur, Aashna Markan and Jasmeet Kaur performed bhangra which was followed by a musical medley of all-time favourite classics performed by Khushbu Khetan, Pranav Sharda and Jagriti Sharda. 

Daily-need amenities such as toiletries, quilts and curtains were donated by the team. The team also organised refreshments for all present.

The team also celebrated the festival of lights at Samarth Institute, a residential house for the people with cerebral palsy and mental disability, told Taranpreet Singh, president of Enactus team. The kids were given quilts and dental care and soap kits. The team spent quality time with the Samarth inmates and also conducted a photo shoot with children. 

Prof Seema Kapoor said the main objective of the team and the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan committee of the PU was to bring every possible community into the limelight so as to render them the maximum amount of help and make this world a better place for them.
