Ramanpreet Kaur tops Mohali district

Two girl students from different private schools of Mohali district proved to be saving grace for the district by securing berths in the provisional merit list of PSEB Class X results here.

Ramanpreet Kaur of Star Public Senior Secondary School, Sector 69, topped the Mohali district by securing 95.69 per cent marks (622/650), while Kavita, a student of Shastri Model Senior Secondary School at Phase 1, grabbed second spot by securing 95.38 per cent (620/650) marks.

Apart from the duo, no other student from the district could manage to secure berth in the provisional merit list, containing as many as 379 students with cut-off 95.38 per cent marks.

However, third position was bagged by Gagandeep Kaur, Genius Public Senior Secondary School, Sector 69. Gagandeep secured 95.23 per cent marks (619/650).

Elated over her success, Ramanpreet Kaur, daughter of a private factory employee, said she was determined to be in the merit list. “I was determined to see my name in the merit list by all means,” said Ramanpreet, while accepting wishes from her teachers and fellow students here today.

Ramanpreet said she did not take any tuition and studied on her own. “All credit goes to my teachers and parents. It was my routine to study for at least five hours daily,” said Ramanpreet Kaur, who wants to be a successful banker in her life.

Ramanpreet has got 21st rank in the provisional merit list.

Kavita, whose rank is 23rd in the list, is happy with her achievement. Kavita said with her good result, she has fulfilled the dream of her father, who works at a departmental store in Dubai.

Kavita, who aims to become a doctor in her life, said she studied regularly and her teachers and parents helped her a lot. “My father left the country around 10 days ago for his job obligations. When I told him about the results, he assured me that he would buy a new Activa scooter for me. I am very happy,” said Kavita, adding that it was her grandfather’s dream to see her becoming a doctor.

Both toppers of the district claimed that they have no cellphone and were not aware much about social media and networking sites.
