Ready to give 8-hour uninterrupted power to paddy farmers: Official

PATIALA:Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is committed to provide eight-hour uninterrupted power supply to paddy farmers in the state for the paddy season from June 20 onwards and the PSPCL has already made elaborate arrangements to provide power supply to its valuable consumers, this was stated by Er Baldev Singh Sran, CMD, PSPCL, here, on Monday.

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) is committed to provide eight-hour uninterrupted power supply to paddy farmers in the state for the paddy season from June 20 onwards and the PSPCL has already made elaborate arrangements to provide power supply to its valuable consumers, this was stated by Er Baldev Singh Sran, CMD, PSPCL, here, on Monday.

Er Sran said the maximum demand for power recorded during 2017 was 11,705 MW in July, which the PSPCL had successfully met by arranging power from all available sources optimally.

It is anticipated that in the coming paddy season, the maximum demand may rise to 12,500 MW and the PSPCL has already made arrangements for over 13,000 MW. The coal stock at PSPCL thermal power stations is sufficient and elaborate arrangements have been made for Rajpura Thermal Plant, Goindwal Sahib Power Plant and Talwandi Sabo Power Ltd.

The CMD assured that all consumers of Punjab would be provided continuous, uninterrupted and quality power supply. Daily power supply to all AP consumers in the state had been divided into three groups at each sub-station and the AP consumers of the PSPCL, along side the international border of Punjab, would be provided eight-hour power supply during daytime.

Instructions had also been issued to officers/officials not to leave the headquarters during the paddy season, he added.

The CMD said to update the status of the supply position and redressal of grievances of the consumers, special control rooms had been established at the zonal level and the head office, Patiala. The consumers can call at 96461-82959 and 0183-2212425 for border zone — Amritsar (Amritsar, Tarn-Taran and Gurdaspur), 9646116679 and 01812220924 for north zone — Jalandhar (Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala and Hoshiarpur), 9646146400 and 9646148833 for south zone — Patiala (Patiala, Sangrur, Barnala, Ropar and Mohali), 9646118039 and 9646185267 for west zone — Bathinda (Bathinda, Faridkot, Muktsar and Ferozepur), 9646122070 and 9646181129 for central zone — Ludhiana (Ludhiana and Khanna) and 9646106835 and 9646106836 for centralised complaint centre at the PSPCL Headquarters, Patiala.

He said in addition to these numbers, consumers in the state could also register their complaints by sending an SMS on 1912, or phone call or through the PSPCL mobile application.
