Currently, there are 426 daily wage clerks in the university against the sanctioned strength. A meeting of a committee to frame the policy for regularising the daily wage staff was held. During the meeting, president of the Panjab University Staff Association Deepak Kaushik said while workload had increased over the past few years, the authorities failed to recruit enough employees.
Committee members suggested different periods of time for the regularisation of staff ranging from five to 10 years. The committee, however, decided that the period be fixed for seven years and has forwarded the same to the Syndicate.
