Patiala, August 11
Annoyed over the delay in disbursal of their salary, teachers of the University College of Engineering, Punjabi University, boycotted classes. The teachers had given an ultimatum to the university authorities that if they failed to release their salary by August 10, they would boycott the classes from August 11. Prof Sikander Singh Cheema said university officials were creating a divide between the teaching and non-teaching employees by not releasing their salary together. While the university released the salary of the non-teaching staff in the first week of the month, the teaching faculty is still awaiting it.— TNS
