CHANDIGARH: Sarabjot Singh today blanked Smarvir 9-0 to book a place in the boys’ U-16 semifinals in the ongoing Roots National Ranking Championship at the Roots Tennis Academy in Zirakpur.

Sarabjot Singh today blanked Smarvir 9-0 to book a place in the boys’ U-16 semifinals in the ongoing Roots National Ranking Championship at the Roots Tennis Academy in Zirakpur.

Abhay Mohan registered a 9-4 win over Mahismat Kumar 9-4, while Swamin beat Pranav Chopra 9-6 in other quarterfinal match. 

Mankirat Singh eased into the last-four stage of the championship after he humbled Parth Goel 9-3.

Aditi goes past Japjot 

Aditi edged past Japjot Kaur 9-4 to ensure a place in the girls’ U-16 semifinals. Earlier, Aditi had tamed Jasmey 9-3 for a quarterfinal berth.  

Konika Dhull got the better of Aadita Vashist 9-3, while Amreen Sidhu sealed a spot in the semifinals with a 9-4 win over Jaskirat Kaur. 

Purab moves ahead 

In the boys’ U-14 category, Purab Chaudhary had an easy outing against Rishi Dahiya, winning the quarterfinal tie 9-3. Shivdev Singh dumped Shraeyvir 9-2, while Sarthak Gandhi registered a 9-3 win over Aditya Chauhan. 

Pranav Chopra, meanwhile, had to struggle before he overcame Jivaj Chawla 9-8(3) to stay alive in the competition.

Suryanshi outplayed Vishita 9-0, while Jaskirat overwhelmed Matreyi Phogat 9-1 to move into the girls’ U-14 semifinals.
