Sec 21 youth held for dumping friend’s body

CHANDIGARH:The Chandigarh Police have arrested a youth of Sector 21 for allegedly dumping the body of his 18-year-old friend near Nada Sahib in Panchkula after the victim, son of a UT constable, died under mysterious circumstances.

The Chandigarh Police have arrested a youth of Sector 21 for allegedly dumping the body of his 18-year-old friend near Nada Sahib in Panchkula after the victim, son of a UT constable, died under mysterious circumstances. The police suspect it to be a case of drug overdose. Sources said they took drugs in a hotel in Chandigarh.  

The victim, Anirudh, was missing since June 14. He had gone to a market, but did not return home. The victim’s family had reported the matter to the police. The victim’s decomposed body was found dumped near Nada Sahib on June 18. The body was kept at the mortuary of a hospital in Panchkula. The UT police were informed about the unidentified body following which the body was identified by the victim’s kin today. 

During investigation, it came to light that the victim had gone with Manbir Malhotra, a resident of Sector 21, but did not return. The investigation revealed that Manbir allegedly dumped the victim's body in Panchkula after he died. 

The police have arrested  Manbir and a case under Section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) of the IPC has been registered against him at the Sector 19 police station. DSP (East) Satish Kumar said the matter was under investigation.
