A local court sentenced a Sector 38 resident to two-year imprisonment in an NDPS case today.
Robin was caught with 1.5 kg ganja and eight banned injections in 2016. The court also asked him to pay a fine of Rs 10,000.
The matter dates back to December 21, 2016, when Robin was arrested from Maloya. The police had laid a naka near Snehalaya building when they saw Robin walking towards them around 6:45 pm. As per the police, Robin turned around on seeing the cops and started walking fast. He was holding a plastic carrybag in his hand and suspecting that it could have some stolen items, the police approached him.
Robin could not give any satisfactory answer as to why he turned back on seeing the police and his plastic bag was thus checked. Around 1.50 kg of ganja was recovered from the bag and Robin informed that he sold it in small quantities.
In the meantime, he tried to throw away a packet from his trouser’s pocket, which was grabbed by the police. On checking, four injections of pheniramine maleate and four injections of buprenorphine were found inside. Robin could not produce a valid permit or licence for the drugs in his possession and was thus arrested. He was booked under Sections 20 and 22 of the NDPS Act.
