Status of June 21 meeting still unclear
However, the status of June 21 MC House meeting is unclear. The Haryana government has not cleared its stance on the controversial June 21 MC House meeting.
MC Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal had already sent two reminders to the government in this regard.
In September, MC Commissioner Rajesh Jogpal, in his reply to the Mayor’s letter demanding the confirmation of the minutes of the House meeting, had stated that as per the Haryana Municipal Act, 1994, presence of the Secretary of the corporation was must for recording the proceedings, but neither the Secretary nor any officer was present in the meeting. Therefore, the minutes cannot be confirmed at this stage.
In the meeting, chaired by Panchkula Mayor Upinder Kaur Ahluwalia, a total of 30 agendas were passed by them while the decision on three was deferred. The BJP and the nominated councillors did not attend the meeting. Panchkula and Kalka MLAs, too, had not attended it. Mayor’s personal assistant had marked the attendance of councillors and recorded the proceedings of the House.
