Seminar on ‘Olympism’ from Feb16

CHANDIGARH:Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, will host a two-day international conference under the theme of ''Olympism: Global Innovation Forum for Humanity and Sustainable Development from Ancient Olympia to India, Tokyo 2020 & Beyond'' (Bridges Between Education, Culture, Sports And Society)'' , from February 16 to 17.

Chandigarh, February 14

Dev Samaj College of Education, Sector 36, will host a two-day international conference under the theme of 'Olympism: Global Innovation Forum for Humanity and Sustainable Development from Ancient Olympia to India, Tokyo 2020 & Beyond' (Bridges Between Education, Culture, Sports And Society)' , from February 16 to 17.  

Triple Olympian Balbir Singh Senior (Padma Shri), Balraj Lal Thakkar (Padma Shri), Prem Chand Dogra (Padma Shri) and Dr. Parvinder Singh (Dean College Development Council Panjab University) will be the key speakers for the seminar. 

Addressing the media persons, today, Principal Dr. Agnese Dhillon along with Dr. Alexis Lyras, Founder and President Olympism for Humanity Alliance and Dr. Albanides Evaggelos, Democritus, University of Thrace (Greece) discussed the theme and objective of this conference.  "The main objective of this conference will be to work as a multicultural interdisciplinary centre which will aims at studying, enriching and promoting Olympism for humanity majorly through sports," said Dr. Lyras.  

Meanwhile, Dr. Evaggelos informed that  the local college will also sign an MOU with the foundation of Olympism for humanity alliance governed by International Olympic Academy to open a research centre 'CORE' (Centre of Olympics Research and Education) in the college campus.

Dr. Parminder Singh, Director Sports ( PU) and Dr. Rakesh Malik, deputy director sports (PU) highlighted the vision of the conference.—TNS
