Series of MC events mark ‘Swachh bharat parv’

The Municipal Corporation organised several events to mark the ‘Swachh Bharat Parv’ in the city on Wednesday. 

A heritage walk was organised by the Tourism Department, UT, and the MC jointly.  About 300 school students took part in the walk that was flagged off from Government Museum and Art Gallery in Sector 10 at 7 am by Mahesh Inder Singh Sidhu, councillor of Ward No. 1. The walk concluded at the Open Hand monument on the Capitol Complex in Sector 1. MC Commissioner Jitender Yadav and Additional Commissioner Anil Kumar Garg also participated in the event.

Besides, various events were organised across the city. These included hand wash fairs in schools, mass pledges in residential areas and schools, cleanliness drives, toilet cleaning programmes, pruning of trees, and cleaning of road gullies, parks, road berms and city markets. 

A training programme on vector-borne diseases and its prevention, and reduce, reuse and recycle of waste was organised at the nursing auditorium, GMSH, Sector 16. TNS
