UT Cadre Educational Employees’ Union met Education Secretary KK Jindal and discussed the issue of pending promotions of teachers. Union president Swaran Singh Kamboj said the Education Department had called promotion cases of JBT teachers in November 2015 to fill vacant posts of TGTs. However, nothing has been done by the department till date.

There are 16 eligible JBT teachers in the JBT seniority list, who can be promoted against 91 vacant posts of TGT non-medical and medical. Along with this, many posts of TGTs of other subjects are also lying vacant. Kamboj said, “The department shows interest only in calling teachers on deputation.”

He demanded that the department frame a mechanism for the promotion of teachers on time as per the availability of vacant seats. The Secretary assured that the teachers would be promoted soon.
