Teachers to hold dharna tomorrow

Chandigarh, August 14

The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of teachers will observe hunger strike and hold dharna in front of the Education Department at Sector 9 on Wednesday morning. They have been demanding renewal of contract of computer teachers. They are also demanding release of their joining orders and pending salaries of computer teachers and counsellors.

As many as 199 computer instructors and data entry operators are awaiting renewal of contract for the newly commenced session. They have not been paid salaries from the past three months.

Their demands include release of final seniority list of all teacher cadres, to remove the name of subject experts from the seniority list of principals, to hold DPC of all teacher cadres to fill vacant posts of teachers/principals etc. — TNS
