CHANDIGARH: Thieves struck at a house in Vikas Nagar, Mauli Jagran, on the night intervening April 15 and 16. According to the police, the complainant, Vikram, reported that unknown person stole 15-gram gold, silver anklets, a mobile phone, two gas cylinders and a purse containing Rs 3,000 from his house.

Man held with banned vials

Chandigarh: The police have arrested a man after he was found in possession of 16 banned injections. According to the police, the accused, identified as Sanjeev Kumar of Togan in Mohali district, was arrested near the motor market in Sector 38 (West). A case has been registered against the accused at the Maloya police station. TNS

Car stolen from Dhakoli 

Zirakpur: Some unidentified persons stole a car from outside a house in Krishna Enclave, Dhakoli. The incident came to the light when car owner Nagender Kumar found the car missing from its parking.The complainant, Nagender, told the police that he had parked his car (PB-01-B-1582) outside his house on the April 13 night. — OC

50-yr-old man dies in mishap

Kharar: Harvinder Singh (50), a resident of Mundi Kharar, here, died when his Activa scooter, on which he was riding, was knocked down by a speeding truck on Monday. According to the police, Singh was going from the Kharar bus stand to Mundi Kharar on his scooter when a rashly-driven truck hit him. He was taken to the Civil Hospital in Kharar, where doctors declared him dead. The police have registered a case against the unidentified driver of the truck. OC

1 held with heroin

Zirakpur: The Zirakpur police arrested a drug peddler with 7 gm  of heroin at a naka in Zirakpur on Monday. The accused has been identified as Durga Das, a resident of Dhakoli. The accused, who was coming from the Dhakoli side, suddenly changed his way on seeing the police party. On suspicion, the police apprehended him and recovered 7 gm of heroin.  OC

Scooterist hurt in accident

Zirakpur: A scooterist sustained injuries after he was hit by a rashly-driven car on the Zirakpur-Patiala stretch.The police have registered a case against an unidentified person on the complaint of the victim’s wife Sneh, a resident of Chandigarh.The complainant alleged that her husband Daleep Kumar was going towards Patiala from Zirakpur on April 13. She alleged that when he reached near Adda Jhuggiyan, a rashly-driven car coming hit his scooter from the rear side following which he sustained injuries. The victim was rushed to the GMCH, Sector-32, Chandigarh where he is undergoing treatment. OC

Power cuts in Zirakpur

Zirakpur: Residents of Zirakpur and nearby areas had to bear with power cuts, lasting more than five hours on Tuesday. Almost half of Zirakpur faced power outages. Residents have been facing scheduled and unscheduled power cuts for a few days due to the maintenance work of power lines. OC
