Toddlers enjoy splash pool party

To beat the heat and to have fun, a ‘splash pool party’ was arranged for the students of kindergarten section of Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40, Chandigarh.

To beat the heat and to have fun, a ‘splash pool party’ was arranged for the students of kindergarten section of Sharda Sarvhitkari Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 40, Chandigarh. Tiny-tots were dressed in colorful swimming costumes for pool party. They tapped their feet to famous rain songs and recited poems of rainy day. 

Mother’s Day celebrated

Children participated in a feet-washing ceremony with flowers to celebrate Mother’s Day at Career Point Gurukul in Mohali. This was followed by group songs, dance, skit and games organised by the students and faculty for the mothers. The mothers also danced to the tunes of their wards’ favourite songs.

Oath-taking ceremony 

The newly elected council members of the Gem Public School cabinet took an oath of office. The function commenced by invoking the blessings of the Almighty. The newly elected school cabinet was welcomed. The council members were acquainted with the need of the school council and thereafter, the names of the prefects were announced.

State winners felicitated 

Students, who clinched the second prize at the state-level folk dance competition organised by the District Council of Child Welfare, were felicitated with a cash prize of Rs 11,000 each at Doon Public School in Panchkula. The students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the school and teachers for the tremendous support and assistance. Principal Sanjay Anand presented the cheques to the students of bhangra team in a special assembly conducted on the school premises. TNS

Parenting workshop

Patiala: To provide the most positive environment to students and instil the importance of parents in a child’s life, a parenting workshop was organised at Ryan International School, Patiala. The workshop was conducted by Dr Tushar Guha, founder-chairman and managing director, Nrityanjali Group. The eminent guest is an exponent in Indian classical dance, Indian folk dance and Western dance, an actor, singer, dubbing artiste, music composer, director of plays and a poet. Dr Tushar laid emphasis on the idea that communication with a child plays a vital role in his growth. He guided the parents to recognise the latent potential, interests and hobbies of their children and develop their imaginative skills. The parents also got their queries resolved and thanked the management for conducting such a fruitful workshop.

Alumnus honoured

The Modern School Alumni Association, at a special function held here, honoured its patron KK Sharma, a 1969-pass-out alumnus, on his appointment as the chairman, Pepsu Road Transport Corporation (PRTC). Dr Ashutosh Narula, president of the association, stated that they felt honoured as an old student of their school and a resident of Patiala has been chosen for this important assignment of the chairman of Punjab’s oldest and prestigious transport corporation. RP Bector, Engineer-in-Chief (retd), senior alumnus, said: “The PRTC will certainly achieve greater heights under the leadership of Sharma”.

Poetry recitation competition

An inter-house poetry recitation competition for classes VI-X was conducted by the English Department of Career Academy, Patiala. Participants recited poems with enthusiasm. Navdeep Kaur (Class VII-Einstein House), Simarpreet Kaur (Class VIII-Edison House) and Ankita (Class VI-Newton House) bagged first, second and third positions, respectively. Their poems reflected concern for environment, social evils and water scarcity. Chairman AD Singh and academic coordinator congratulated the winners and encouraged students to participate in such events. OC
