Kharar: The Kharar city police have registered a case under Sections 406, 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC against Amarjit Singh and Anil Kumar for committing fraud with Bank of India, Kharar, by depositing fake documents.



Kharar: The Kharar city police have registered a case under Sections 406, 420, 465, 467, 468 and 471 of the IPC against Amarjit Singh and Anil Kumar for committing fraud with Bank of India, Kharar, by depositing fake documents. A complaint about this was made by the manager of the bank to the police. According to the complainant, cash credit limit of Rs 15 lakh was sanctioned in 2012 to a firm owned by Amarjit Singh. A plot was equitably mortgaged by the bank for this limit. Later, the complainant came to know that the above mentioned property has already been mortgaged by Amarjit Singh by another bank. Documents regarding this property given to the complainant’s bank were fake. OC

Couple hurt in road accident

Kharar: Ranjan Singh of Rangian village and his wife Gurvinder Kaur, who was pregnant, were seriously injured in a road accident near Badala village on Sunday morning. They have been admitted to the Sector 16 hospital in Chandigarh. Ranjan said he, along with his wife, was coming to Kharar on a motorcycle. When they reached near Badala village, they were hit by another motorcycle from the rear. They fell on the road and sustained senior injuries. His wife is still admitted to the hospital. They have made a complaint to the police in this regard. OC

Cement bags stolen

Kharar: As many as 300 cement bags were allegedly stolen from a shop (Retika Building Material) at a nearby Badali village on Saturday night. The owner of the shop informed the police about the incident. He said he came to know about the theft at 7 am on Sunday. He has suffered a loss of about Rs 1.25 lakh. The police had started an investigation into the matter. OC

Case registered against 2

Kharar: The Kharar Sadar police have registered a case under Section 212 of the IPC against Sukhwinder Singh of Ballo Majra and Jagtar Singh of Chajju Majra on the charge of giving shelter to an accused. SI Shivdev Singh Brar was patrolling near Chajju Majra village when he got information that Jagtar Singh, who was booked under Sections 307, 506 and 148 of the IPC and the Arms Act at Mullanpur Garibdas Police Station on May 4, 2017, was avoiding his arrest and was moving in a vehicle with Sukhwinder Singh on Sunday. The police spotted the vehicle and tried to stop it. However, the accused did not stop the vehicle and fled. The police have registered a fresh case against both of them. OC

MLA honoured

Fatehgarh Sahib: The Senior Citizens Association, Sirhind, honoured local Congress MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra for putting in extra effort in completing the sewerage-laying work within a period of one year. Addressing the association members, Nagra said he wanted to develop the town as holy city on the pattern of Amritsar. He said his main endeavour would be construction of street roads in Sirhind town. He would urge the government to declare the town as a historic place. TNS

Amritsar resident booked

Zirakpur: The police have booked and registered a case against a resident of Amritsar for allegedly defrauding people of several lakhs on the pretext of sending them abroad. The accused has been identified as Rajesh Kumar, who was running a private firm in Zirakpur. Police sources said they got information that the accused was running an illegal firm in Zirakpur and had allegedly defrauded people on the pretext of sending them abroad. The police sources said during preliminary investigation, it came to the fore that the accused, Rajesh Kumar, does not have any licence for running the firm. A case has been registered against Rajesh Kumar at the Zirakpur police station and investigations are on, the sources said. OC
